Assalamu Alaikum,
On behalf of all the members of the Omani Cultural office in Washington DC, It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to study in the United States and Canada, and I am proud that you have been chosen to pursue your degrees here.
Our first and foremost goal is to support your academic success and to assist you, not only with resources and with the academic advice you need, but we go far beyond that to become your window that will help you discover new prospective and foster new opportunities that lies ahead.
We also would like to introduce you to our newly redesigned website where we have taken great care to update and improve all of the information that you need, and will continue to work aggressively on updating it in an easy way to use. At the same time, we are also focusing more on multimedia, so you can find your activities’ images, videos and other multimedia content here.
One key factor you need to remember in order to make the most out of the wonderful opportunity you have in hand, is to master the langue of this country. It is truly a learning experience that transcends boundaries by aiming at contributing to increasing your competency in your field of study, but also, in a wider context, at contributing to the development of society.
An important aspect of being international students is to promote your culture and seize the chance to show how spectacular Omanis are. Explain to others your language and culture, your national cuisines, the schools in your country and how you spend your time there. That will broaden their outlook and also assist you in your new life.
You are here to study, for sure – that is the main focus of an academic program. But I hope you will also have time to avail yourself of all the varied cultural and social programs that your universities have to offer, and that you have time to enjoy each other’s company. And when you go home you will be able to share these experiences with your parents and friends. And always remember, it is through you, and with you, we can guarantee a leading role among nations.
